Is Window Tint Legal in Georgia, A Simple Guide

3 min read

Georgia sets rules for how dark and how reflective your tint can be. The darkness is measured as VLT, which is the percent of light a window lets through. A lower number means a darker tint. Here is the general guidance for passenger vehicles.

The basics

For the windshield, non reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer line near the top, roughly the top six inches. For the front side windows, the back side windows, and the rear window, the film must let more than 32 percent of light through. Tint also cannot be more than 20 percent reflective.

A few things to know

SUVs and vans can follow different rules for the rear windows, so ask us about your specific vehicle. Medical exemptions may allow darker tint with the right documentation.

We keep you legal

This is general guidance and tint laws can change, so we confirm the current limits with you before we install. The goal is simple, a look you love that also keeps you compliant. When you book, we walk you through the legal shade for each window.
